Support for Ukraine

In response to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Arcadia’s Donor Board has made donations totalling $20.5m to organizations that are working to reach people in urgent need. These grants were made through Arcadia and Lund Trust.

So far, we have given £6,983,000 to the Red Cross, £3,000,000 to a United Nations agency and £1,750,000 to Save the Children for their emergency humanitarian work in Ukraine and support for refugees as they flee West. We have given £750,000 to MAD-Aid to help Ukrainian refugees in Moldova, £500,000 to the Refugee Council to match-fund its appeal to support refugees that come to the UK and £25,000 in match-funding to British-Ukrainian Aid. We have given €1,570,000 to the Institute for Human Sciences to support journalists, scholars, artists, public intellectuals and archivists based in Ukraine, and £91,050 to the European Roma Institute for Arts and Culture to support Roma artists, curators and practitioners from Ukraine.

We have also given €1,890,000 to the Frankfurt Zoological Society and €250,000 to Foundation Conservation Carpathia. Both are grantees of our Endangered Landscapes Programme, which during peacetime work to restore and conserve landscapes in the Carpathian Mountains and Polesia. They are now providing care for people who have taken shelter in national parks in Ukraine.
